GVA Lighting was registered use of the name Highlighter® for the Highlighter®  product family. This series of LED luminaires includes the Highlighter® HL-Cove, the Highlighter® HL-DL and the Highlighter® HL-LITE-COVE.

GVA Lighting, Inc. was recently recognized with two Gold awards from the 2012 IIDEX Canadian Innovation Awards. The awards were given at IIDEX Canada, Canada's national design and architecture exhibition and conference, September 19th to 21st.

The Highlighter™ and STR9-INFINITY™ were both awarded Gold in the innovative lighting class. Both products feature GVA Lighting’s proprietary INFINITY™ power and control technology, which was developed for architectural delineation of skyscrapers, bridges, long coves in airports and malls or for wall washing and grazing of long facades.

Organized by Interior Designers of Canada, the IIDEX Canada Innovation Awards were established in 1984 to celebrate the latest and most innovative product designs and booth creativity. The Innovation Awards were judged by representatives from the design, media, and business communities.

The Innovation Awards honour excellence in product design and booth creativity. Winning entries successfully address a long list of criteria including problem solving, budget, strategy, environmental responsiveness and marketing objectives. Highlighter-DL™ is a modular LED lighting system for large scale installations. Typical applications include architectural delineation where long runs are necessary and limited power feeds are available.

Highlighter-DL features GVA Lighting’s proprietary power and control system, INFINITY™, which allows it be installed in exceptionally long runs, up to 341ft or 102m, with a single power and data feed.

GVA Lighting introduces Highlighter™ Cove; a new long run modular LED lighting system designed for cove lighting applications where it is impractical to have numerous power feed points, as seen in architectural cove lighting and delineation. This LED lighting system can be installed in exceptionally long runs with only a single power and data feed using GVA Lighting’s proprietary power and control system, INFINITY™.

Consisting of LED modules and mounting profiles, the Highlighter™ Cove is a fully sealed, with each module creating an end-to-end linear run.

Based on improved LED technology and electronics design, GVA Lighting is pleased to release new and improved performance figures for our popular STR9^® wall washing and wall grazing luminaire.

Our latest version of the Monochromatic STR9^® features a significant increase in lumen output with reduced power consumption. The previous STR9-1200 (4ft) with 2.5W LEDs for example, consumed a maximum if 67.2W (low voltage version) and produced ~2090lm. The latest version of the same model consumes only 57.4W, yet it now produces ~3000lm; nearly a 50% increase in light output!

Both the STR9 series and FL series of  LED luminaires are now available with 6 options for beam angle. Additional to the Narrow Beam (12°), Medium Beam (30°), Wide Beam (54°) and Elliptical Beam (12°x46°) options, specifiers can now choose a Tight Beam option at 8° FWHM and a Flood Beam option at 70° FWHM. These new beam angle options are one of the continuous improvements GVA is making to our products to make them the most versatile luminaires on the market!

Photometry files are now available for the FL-RGB™ fixture. Files for full white, full red, full green and full blue in pdf and IES format are all available for download via PRODUCTS>PHOTOMETRY in the top menu.

Our popular STR9^® high power linear LED wall grazer now has a new unique feature – its body is machined from a solid aluminum extrusion. This new model is named STR9^®-Unibody. Unibody allows GVA to test STR9^® fixtures for IP67 applications and to comply with the most extreme and challenging environmental conditions such as severe temperatures and fluctuations, high humidity and marine climates. Protected by Architectural Class 1 (minimum 0.7 mil or 17.78 microns) anodic coating, STR9^®-Unibody has exceptional corrosion resistance. This level of protection, combined with the STR9's glass lens form a material combination inert to weather-related degradation even in severe climates, ensuring long lasting performance and end-user satisfaction.

Unibody design means lighting specifiers can feel confident in the reliability of the STR9^® LED Luminaire for a multitude of outdoor applications. The Unibody design has been implemented for all STR9^® luminaires (MONO and RGB) since September 17, 2010.

GVA Lighting continues the development of its products toward the highest quality and reliability levels in the lighting industry.

New photometry files are now available for the STR9, model: STR9-900-6-1W-3000K-NB-ND as well for the FL, models: FL-50W-5000K-NB-ND, FL-50W-5000K-MB-ND, FL-50W-5000K-WB-ND. PDF and IES formats are available via PRODUCTS>PHOTOMETRY in the top menu.

GVA Lighting has chosen Intertek, an independent testing company, as a partner for testing and compliance certification for all of GVA Lighting's LED lighting products.

STR9, STR9-RGB and STR9-DL are tested in accordance to American and Canadian safety standards and cETLus listed as Surface Mount LED Luminaires for dry, damp or wet locations, for commercial and household use.

DUCAT-IV and KRONA-IV are tested in accordance to American and Canadian safety standards and cETLus listed as Recessed LED Luminaires, for dry locations, for non-insulated ceilings.

Intertek Group PLC. (ITRK), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services, operates over 1,000 laboratories and offices in more than 110 countries throughout the world. Intertek provides access to global markets through its local services, including product safety testing and certification, EMC testing and performance/benchmark testing.

GVA Lighting introduces KRONA-IV; a new recessed 5W LED downlight. KRONA-IV is a non-adjustable version of the popular DUCAT-IV downlights. KRONA-IV has the same LED modules as the DUCAT-IV (four 1W Nichia LEDs), however, the light source is recessed further and is hidden 12mm above the ceiling surface. KRONA-IV is available in three body colors (White, Graphite Black and Silver Gray) and with LEDs in six color temperatures of White as well as four other colors (Amber, Red, Green and Blue).

The STR9-DL is an RGB color changing LED light fixture designed for architectural delineation. The direct view diffuser creates an even, deeply saturated body of light. Typical applications include architectural delineation, media facades and decorative installations.

STR9-DL is capable of producing 16.7 million colors and is addressable in 300mm segments using DMX512-A programming.

With no visible fasteners, the STR9-DL has a clean and modern look and its compact size ensures that it does not interfere visually with the structure on which it is installed.

GVA's proprietary sealing process makes the STR9-DL totally weatherproof and it is IP66 rated in all mounting configurations.

The proven thermal design of the fixture is effective in hot and humid climates as well as severe northern winters.

The STR9-DL LED luminaire offers an innovative approach to color changing architectural delineation and direct view installations for both indoor and outdoor applications.

GVA Lighting has changed the LED module for our popular STR2 series miniature LED luminaires. The new LED modules, named NIC64, maintain the same number of low wattage LEDs from Nichia (12 or 24 x 0.08W LEDs per foot). However, the improved 064 series LED allows the NIC64 module to achieve brightness levels nearly twice that of the previous model. Additionally, STR2 is now available with a clear lens option as well as the original frosted lens option.

GVA's Most popular recessed LED Luminaires, DUCAT-IV and KRONA-IV and linear LED luminaires STR7, STR8, STR8-F, and STR9* using 083 Nichia LEDs will now be produced using ANSI binning. This will be apparent in much better color consistency and uniformity from these luminaires. * Only select STR9 models use Nichia 083 LEDs

Last spring, we introduced the DUCAT-IV which uses 4 diodes rather than the original 3. This increased DUCAT's lumen output by 30%, making the luminaire a viable option for a multitude of new applications.

In December 2008 Nichia introduced the 083B series diodes which are 25% brighter than the 083A series we have previously used. Therefore, we are happy to announce that effective for shipments beginning in January, 2009, we can offer an additional 25% lumen output with no change to the number of diodes and no increase in wattage. Existing DUCAT-IV prices remain unchanged, giving customers a 25% increase in Lumens. Just imagine the applications that can now be addressed!
